After capturing the championship at the 2013 Red River Cup, U16 Team BC is back for more in 2014 but will have two teams vying for the gold medal and looking to bring the title back to British Columbia for a second straight year.

Many players have been contacting Football BC with questions regarding the Red River Cup tournament in Winnipeg. Football BC has compiled the most commonly asked questions for your convenience. If you have a question that isn’t answered here, please click here to email Football BC.
1. Where will the games be played?
All games will be played at Investors Group Field, home of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers. The game dates are July 6 (Sunday), July 9 (Wednesday) and July 12 (Saturday). The exact schedule has not been determined yet.
2. Where are the practice fields?
There are four different practice fields that will be made available to the teams at the tournament. We do not have the exact locations but all are within close driving distance to the team hotel.
3. Can parents stay at the team hotel?
Although Football Manitoba originally requested that parents and fans not stay at the team hotel, as a result of Team Ontario pulling out of the competition, the Canad Inns Destination Centre Fort Garry (Pembina) now has limited rooms available.
The Canad Inns invites parents to stay at any of their properties listed below. When making reservations, please call toll-free 1-888-33CANAD (2-26-23) and ask for the Red River Cup/Parent rate.

4. Are there any team activities planned for the off days?
The team is expected to practice on all off-days. Team activities have not been confirmed at this point. The team is expected to share all meals together (breakfast, lunch and dinner).
5. Is there a dress code?
There is no formal dress code but players should dress appropriately for the weather and for personal conduct (e.g. no clothing with profanity).
6. Besides full equipment and our own personal items, what else should we bring?
Please make sure you bring photo identification (for travel) as well as pocket money. Players should also bring a practice jersey (preferably the one you received at the May camp).
We will also be requesting players bring football pants as well. Team Orange players should bring black/dark pants, and Team Blue players should bring white/light-coloured pants if available. (Please note the pant colour request may change. We are waiting for confirmation from our equipment manager).
7. What time are we meeting at Vancouver International Airport?
All players, with the exception of the ones who have discussed alternate arrangements, will be meeting at Vancouver International Airport at 7 am on Saturday, July 5. Please gather at the domestic terminal near the WestJet check-in area.
8. Are there playbooks available?
The coaches have sent the playbooks out to both teams. If you have not yet received yours, please contact one of your coaches.
1. Skills Contest / Banquet
On Thursday, July 10 (non-game day), there will be a Skills Contest followed by a banquet dinner for all participants. Parents are welcome to attend this dinner at a cost of $30 per person. The dinner will be held at the Canad Inns Polo Park and tickets are available on game days at Investors Group Field.
