Congratulations to NSMF’s own Zander Bailey, Joel Klaassen and Coach Sean Dolynksi for their participation and fantastic result in the 2014 International Bowl which took place on Feb. 7-8 at the University of Texas-Arlington’s Maverick Stadium.
This event included six games between U.S. National Teams and teams assembled by Football Canada, featuring more than 500 of the top North American high school and junior high-aged athletes in football’s greatest annual international competition.
Team BC warmed up with some jamboree-style games on February 5th, the took the field in the big game against the USA National U16 team on February 7th. Both teams played their hearts out with a 7-7 tie at halftime. In the end, our Team BC boys dug deep and came out on top, 10-7.
To put the significance of Team BC’s U16 team 10-7 win in perspective
- The U16 USA National Team was comprised of select players representing 20 different states.
- By comparison, 46 of 47 players from their older U19 USA National Team roster have signed commitments to ranked Division One NCAA schools including Notre Dame (3 players), Michigan State (3), Oregon (2), Alabama (2), Nebraska (2), Ohio State (2) and LSU (1).
