Week 10: North
Surrey Falcons 6 vs Coquitlam Roughriders 33
The Falcons were in need of a win as well as some help
from other teams if they were to have any chance of making
some post season football. First things first. They had
to win this week ten game.
Things didn't start well as Coquitlam scored early with
the Falcons failing to tackle the Roughrider back. The Falcons
only managed one major by half time and leaving the score
20-6 at the break.
The team came out better in the second half with the defense
stepping up and shutting down the Roughrider offense. With
Blake Gorrill out with an injury the Falcons still managed
to move the chains a bit. However again like so many times
this year they couldn't put the ball in the end zone.
Roughriders eventually scored three more majors and walked
away with a 33-6 win in what became a meaningless game for
both teams. The Falcons finished their tough year with a
4-6 record, good for ninth place over all in a 16 team division.
With the amount of youth and young talent on this team
they are sure to be a dominant force next year.

Week
9: North Surrey Falcons 12 at North Delta Panthers 0
The Falcons still had a chance to make the playoffs going
into week nine albeit a very small one. A win in both of
their last two games was a definite must at that meant beating
the struggling North Delta Panthers.
It was a slow track as the rain continued down so both
team's offenses were failing to move the ball much with
Delta unable to even move the chains. Special teams for
Surrey dominated most of the day and it was Blake Gorrill's
70 punt return for a touchdown that got the Falcons on the
board first.
Into the third quarter and the Panthers had yet to make
any move on offense the Falcons changed up some linemen
and the Falcons started to move the ball. Andy Sandu and
Devoun Hallums set two perfect blocks freeing Black Gorrill
outside and 55 yards for the major. The convert attempt
was a fake and was successful for the single only to be
called back on a penalty. The ensuing try failed leaving
the Falcons with a 12-0 win.
MR
BIG bar awards went out to Anthony Cordeiro for a
perfect day of offensive line work. Deepak Sharma won for
best lineman of the day with several tackles in the backfield.
Defensive player of the game went to upstart Brandon Powers
who had his best performance of the year at halfback.
The CRUNCH bar awards went
to Moti Johal, Devoun Hallums and Andy Sandu, all responsable
for contributing to the offensive production with great
blocks.
For the Falcons, a win next week and a loss by Westside
Blue and the Falcons make the playoffs. Westside is up against
the winless Cloverdale Jaguars.

Week
8: North Surrey Falcons 20 vs Vancouver Trojans 0
Week eight and the rain was falling hard. The field was
slick and the players were cold. The Falcons took the opening
drive and marched down the field to where the Trojans stopped
them at their own 25 yard line. Vancouver unable to move
the chains turned the ball back over and the Falcons took
control. Blake Gorrill ran into the endzone for the first
Falcon strike and Surrey took an early 6-0 lead.
Vancouver continued to have troubles getting anywhere and
had to keep turning the ball over to the home team. Early
in the second quarter the Falcons marched down the field
to deep into the Trojan territory where Dylan Tatomir scrambled
in on the quarterback sneak to notch his first touchdown
of the year.
With the Falcons up 12-0 the Trojans hoped for a break
but didn't get one when on the next series the Trojan running
back broke around the outside and went 50 yards for the
touchdown only to have it called back on a penalty. A few
plays later Josh Botha jumped on a loose ball ending the
Trojan hopes of scoring in the first half.
The second half offered more turnovers and more slick conditions
as the rain continued to fall. Vancouver couldn't move the
ball past the mid-stripe and the Falcon offense took advantage
of it. First year JB player, Brock Norton ran off tackle
and into the end zone for his first score of the year. Anthony
Wright kicked the convert for the final Falcon score giving
them a victory with a 20-0 score.

Week
7: North Surrey Falcons 8 vs South Delta 40
It was do or die for the Falcons if they wanted to make
the playoffs this weekend. South Delta came in with a 3-3
record and the Falcons knew they had a chance. The Rams
struck first by moving the chains down the field to the
point where a dive play up the middle gave them the first
major of the game.
Nearing the end of the 1st with both teams struggling,
the Rams moved the ball down to inside the twenty of the
Falcons and ran a sweep outside to go up 14-0. Isiah Lal
powered his way play after play and on the next Falcon drive
broke one for 50 yards before he finally ran one in for
the first Falcon score of the day. With Anthony Wright making
the conversion the Falcons trailed 14-8
Later in the second quarter the offense sputtered while
the defense just couldn't shut down the Ram drives. Just
before the half the Rams put another major on the board
and ran in the single convert to finish off the half with
a comfortable 27-8 lead.
The second half was all South Delta. Despite having to
work on third downs to move the chains they managed to both
throw one in for a touchdown as well as run one in. At the
end of the game the Rams won 40-6 and all but eliminated
the Falcons from any playoff hope.

Week 6: North
Surrey Falcons 0 at Langley Outlaws 46
Another week and another tough game of football. Langley
took the opening kickoff and marched down the field on seven
plays before scoring the first major of the night. Things
looked good when Moti Johal picked off a Langley pass but
the offense gave up the ball a few plays later on a fumble
which the Outlaws returned for a touchdown. The first quarter
ended with Langley on top 14-0.
Langley opened the second quarter by recovering their own
kickoff, subsequently marching down the field to score.
Again the defense showed some sign of success when Darren
DaSilva picked off a Langley pass but again the offense
was stuffed and forced to kick.
Before the half was over Langley marched again down into
Surrey territory and scored their fourth major of the night
capping the half at 30-0.
The second half proved again that the Surrey Falcons can
make the adjustments needed to tighten up the game. Holding
Langley to several third down convertion attempts the Outlaws
finally scored on a swing pass.
With the offense failing get across the mid-stripe the
defense had to pick things up and late in the third the
Falcon defense stuffed the Outlaws again, for what would
be their fourth time on the night.
On the ensuing Falcon drive the offense fumbled the snap
and Langley turned around scoring several plays later to
cap off the game sheet with a 46-0 victory. The Falcons
drop now to 2-4 with their playoff hopes diminishing.

Week 5: North
Surrey Falcons 0 at South Surrey Titans 33
U - G - L - Y. UGLY. That is all that can be said about
the Falcon performance this weekend. It was cold and raining
and it all but shut down many of the Falcon players as youth
and inexperience showed it's ugly head.
For most of the first half Surrey controlled and almost
dominated the game with the exception of three plays. After
quickly shutting down the Titan offense the Falcons marched
the ball 50 yards down the field in their best opening drive
performance of the year. However a fumble on the 5 yard
line stopped the Falcons dead.
Then it was the Titan running back show. Number 29 ran
a 95 yard touchdown, capped that off with another 50 yard
touchdown and then the nail in the coffin was a broken punt
attempt that he ran for 100 yards. Late in the second quarter
he added a small 10 yard dive to give the Titans a 27-0
lead at half time.
Things improved a bit defensively thanks to some adjustments
limiting the one man Titan team to only one 35 yard touchdown
in the fourth quarter.
Despite the offense showing they could move the ball all
day long and controlled much of the game the Falcons could
not score when they needed to. The offensive line had their
best outing of the year with strong performances by Amotosh
Thind, Andy Thompson and Shaun Gill.
The only CRUNCH bar of
the game went to Tristen Huston who managed to dive on a
fumbled Titan ball. MR BIG
bars went to Amotosh for lineman of the day, Blake Gorrill
for defensive player of the day and Isaiah Lal for offense
who never gave up and put everything he had into every play.
With their playoff hopes starting to deminish the Falcons
now travel to Langley in a much needed win if they hope
to play some post season action.

Week
4: North Surrey Falcons 0 vs Coquitlam Vikings 48
From the opening kickoff that the Vikings returned for
a touchdown, the Falcons failed to make any head way against
the visiting team. After opening the game with a score the
Vikings topped off the first quarter with another major
on their second drive. Even after the Falcons defense managed
to stuff the Vikings on their own 30 yard line the Surrey
offense couldn't put together successful drives.
With Coquitlam leading 16-0 they capped off another drive
to go up another eight points to make the score 24-0. The
highlight of the first half for the Falcon's was when De'Ondre
Baysinger picked off a Coquitlam pass and returned it 45
yards. Despite the return the Falcon's couldn't punch the
ball in to end the half.
The Falcon's received the ball to open the second half
but things didn't change much to start. Coquitlam managed
a short pass play for another major and followed that up
with yet another run play to go up 40-8. The defense did
step up a bit in the second half with several back field
tackles and good pressure on the quarterback but it was
not enough.
In the final minutes Surrey fumbled the while deep in their
own end, only to be picked up by Coquitlam and run in for
the final score to give the Vikings a 48-0 win and go on
to be undefeated on the year. For the Falcon's they drop
to 2-2 with playoff hopes starting to waiver.
CRUNCH bars on the day
went out to Anthony Wright for a big sack on the quarterback
in the second quarter. Josh Botha followed up with one of
his own and Isiah Lal become a force in the second half
with several big tackles to himself a fourth quarter CRUNCH
bar.
MR BIG bars went to Dylan
Tatomir for completing 3 of 3 passes on the day. De'Ondre
Baysinger received one for the highlight interception in
the first half and Josh received one for the best lineman
performance.
The Falcons now go down to South Surrey to take on the
Titans who themselves are sitting at 2-2 on the year.

Week 3: North
Surrey Falcons 0 at Cloverdale Cougars 38
With
the Falcons jumping out to a 2-0 start after crushing the
Cloverdale 'B' they went back to Cloverdale to now take
on the 'A' consisting of mostly senior players.
On Cloverdale's first possession the Jaguars running back
managed to break a few tackles and dodge through the line
of scrimmage on a busted play to go 40 yards for the first
major of the day. Anthony Wright managed to jump through
and block the convert leaving the score 6-0 for Cloverdale.
The Falcons offense managed to get a first down but had
problems moving the chains consistently resulting in third
down punts. Cloverdale's next series of downs moved them
past midfield into Falcon territory. The Cougars went to
pass and their quarterback managed to scramble out, running
in for a touchdown to end the quarter 14-0.
The second quarter the defense picked up a bit when Isiah
Lal, recently moved to defense, managed to pick off a Cougar
pass to give the offense another possession. Failing to
move the ball the Cougars took over at mid field and drove
down to the Falcon goal line. After a couple of attempts
at short yardage and goal the Cougars managed to dive up
the middle and cap off the half with another touchdown making
the score 22-0 at the mid point.
Things didn't change much in the second half other then
the offense made some progress putting together multiple
first down conversions and gaining much need time of possession.
This limited the scoring of Cloverdale allowing them to
only add two more majors and ending the game with a 38-0
win.
Overall the team put a much better effort and production
forward then the 29-0 loss earlier in pre-season of which
it was only a 20 minute game. Although there were no CRUNCH
or MR BIG bar awards this game there were some efforts worthy
of being noted. Kalvir Dhaliwal had a strong game contributing
much of the offensive yardage. Andy Thompson came up with
some terrific blocks on offense while limiting errors on
the snap. The considerably young Falcons in the end did
well to hold the senior 'A' team of Cloverdale and proved
that it was the Falcons that have improved the most on the
season to date.

Week 2: North
Surrey Falcons 44 at Cloverdale Jaguars 0
There were not many big plays or bone crunching hits but
the Falcons played some very consistent grind them out football.
The Falcons received the opening kick and marched the ball
40 yards before the Jag defense put a stop to the chains.
All day the long the Falcon defense was solid and the first
Cloverdale possession resulted in a punt giving the Falcons
the ball again.
Kalvir
Dhaliwal was the first to score a major with a 3 yard run
up the gut, capped by Anthony Wrights convert to give the
visitors an 8-0 lead. The second quarter was all Falcons
as the Jaguars ran out of steam. With the Jags getting little
time on offense the Falcons changed around players and tried
some new things. Blake Gorrill to a run off tackle and scored
the second major of the day and after an unsuccessful convert
attempt the Falcons went up 14-0.
Before the half was over Surrey gave the ball to Devoun
Hallums who busted out off tackle and scored his first Junior
Bantam strike and the Falcons went up 22-0. Just before
the half Surrey drove down again with Brock Norton taking
a swing pass for a 25 yard gain however Surrey ran out of
time.
The third quarter was all Surrey as what little the Jag
offense had to offer collapsed. Cloverdale's first possession
resulted in Tristen Huston jumping on a fumble for his first
recovery of the season. Kalvir Dhaliwal capped off the Surrey
drive, running outside for a long 25 yard touchdown and
the Falcons jumped out to a 30-0 lead.
With
the game locked up the Falcons wanted to see some new players
in action and evaluate for future games. Dalvinder Grewal
in his first year of ball took the ball outside, dodging
a few tackles and scored his first touchdown of the year
on a 20 yard strike.
In the fourth quarter with the defense demolishing the
Jag offensive line the Falcons took possession one more
time. It was young Brock Norton from the three back position
sweeping outside down the field 20 yards into the Cloverdale
end zone for his first major of the year giving the Falcons
a final score of 44-0 after the convert.
CRUNCH bars went out to Kalvir for a great backfield tackle,
Zach May with a perfect block on a sweep play, Brock for
a great crack on the Cloverdale corner and Moti Johal for
the lone Surrey pick on the day.
MR BIG bars went to Dalvinder on offense for a strong running
performance on the day. For defense it was Anthony Wright
who lead the team with five unassisted tackles on the day
and Amitosh Thind grabbed the lineman award for his best
outing of the season.

Week 1: Surrey
Falcons 22 vs Westside Warriors White 6
Week
one of the 2007 season gave many of the young Falcons their
first taste of real football when the Westside Warriors
White team rolled into Bear Creek Park. The Falcons clicked
from the opening reception and moved the ball down the field.
Isiah Lal was the first to break out a run going off tackle
and through a hole for a 55 yard touchdown. With the convert
attempt unsuccessful the Falcons had a quick 6-0 lead.
Not to be outdone the Warriors were not going to lie down
and be run over. Pouncing back the Warrior offense broke
out a struck for a long major and evened the game up at
six.
From the start of the second quarter it was all Falcons
as they dug down deep on defense. With the Warriors deep
in their own end they took to the air with hopes of beating
the Falcons. De'Ondre Baysinger read the play and picked
off the pass, running the ball in for the touchdown and
giving the Falcons defense their first points of the year.
After the successful convert attempt the Falcons jumped
out to a 14-6 lead.
In the second half special teams performed well again with
Brock Norton recovering the opening half kickoff. The offensive
line then opened up some holes for the various Falcon backs
to move the ball through and marched the ball. Next up to
score was Blake Gorrill, a work horse for the Falcon back
field, who swept around the right side and in for the final
major on the day. Another successful convert gave the Falcons
a 22-6 opening day victory and a perfect 1-0 start to the
2007 season.
CRUNCH bars on the day
went to De'Ondre Baysinger for a smoking hit on the Warrior
running back in the Westside backfield. Kalvir Dhaliwal
earned his first CRUNCH
of the year for sacking the quarterback in the third quarter.
MR. BIG bar awards went
to new comer Josh Botha for his strong defensive line work
on the day. For the offensive star of the game the MR
BIG bar award went to Blake Gorrill who was top running
back on the day for yardage gained. On the defensive side,
De'Ondre Baysinger earned a MR.
BIG bar for several great tackles, interception for
touchdown and all round strong performance.

Pre-Season Bronze
Boot: Surrey Falcons 0 vs Abbotsford Falcons 14
Week
three of the pre-season is the traditional time for the
Bronze Boot and this year was no exception where Surrey
held their 38th annual. The 2005 Provincial participants
Abbotsford Falcons were first up for Surrey on a fantastic
Bronze Boot weekend. Both teams played tough defense stopping
the opposing offenses and forcing a three and out situation
several times.
Midway through the exhibition game Abby broke a tackle
and scored to take a 7-0 lead after the single convert.
Near the end the visiting Falcons capped off another drive
as the Surrey defense collapsed and with a short yardage
dive play the Abbotsford Falcons won the game 14-0 after
the convert.
Blake Gorrill had the strongest defensive performance of
the game with several backfield tackles as well as Khaleed
Ahmed played well.
Pre-Season Bronze Boot: Surrey
Falcons 8 vs Westside Warriors 0
Next up the Westside Warriors who brought
out a mix of two teams to the Bronze Boot. The Falcon special
teams got the team going by kicking off and having Brock
Norton recover the onside kick. This set up the best offensive
drive of pre-season as the Falcons marched the ball down
the field. Isaiah Lal capped off the drive with the major
and Anthony Wright made the two point convert a success
to give the Falcons an 8-0 lead.
Both teams failed to accomplish much
more on offense with Westside struggling most of the day.
Defensive player of the game was Tristen Huston who made
a nice backfield tackle for the sack.
Pre-Season Bronze Boot: Surrey
Falcons 0 vs Surrey Eagles 14
Last of the day was the traditional Eagles / Falcons match
up. Things were tight for the first part with both teams
not able to convert consecutive first downs. Eventually
the Eagles broke a long run off a busted play and go up
6-0 after the failed convert.
Blake Gorrill managed to take the reverse on the kick off
and go for a good 40 yard gain and then followed up with
a couple nice runs to move the offense down the field. However
the Eagles defense tightened up and stuffed the Falcons
before they could score.
The Eagles marched down the length of the field and despite
some strong defensive performances by Anthony Wright including
a sack the Falcons couldn't stop the Eagles. Finally near
the end of the game the Eagles capped off the score with
another major and two point conversion to win 14-0.

Pre-Season Cloverdale:
Aug 18th
The 2007 Cloverbowl had some tough competitors in it this
year with Cloverdales' 'A' team the Cougars and the North
Surrey Eagles competing. First up the Falcons took on the
Vancouver Trojans who have been building their teams up
year after year. Much like last week the offense struggled
with timing and failed to move the ball. For most of the
game the defense held Vancouver from big gains until late
in the game the Trojans scored on a broken play to win the
game 6-0.
Next up the Falcons took on the 'A' team of Cloverdale,
the Cougars, who hope to make another run for the VMFL finals
after their disappointing first round loss last year. With
what appeared to be mostly senior players the Cougars dominated
the battle of the line on both offense and defense with
their dominance in size a big factor. Again the offense
couldn't move the ball and the Falcon defense crumbled allowing
the Cougars to win 29-0 with several scores run off of broken
plays.
To finish the day the Falcons took on their club mates
the Eagles who return this year as the reigning VMFL champions.
To some surprise the Eagle offense sputtered with several
key turnovers yet the Falcons offense could not capitalize
on their chances, turning over the ball themselves. Quarterback
Dylan Tatomir guided the offense to several first downs
and showed the staff that the offense could move the ball.
The defensive highlight of the day had to have been Brock
Norton picking off an Eagle pass and ending their chances
of adding a final touchdown. In the end despite some much
improved performances by both sides of the ball the Falcons
lost their third of the day with the Eagles winning 6-0.

Pre-Season Coquitlam:
Aug 11th
For many of the 2007 Falcons this was either their first
action at the Junior Bantam level or for some their first
time at football ever. This being one of the youngest teams
the Falcon's have seen in years the staff had lots to look
for and evaluate over this day.
First up the Falcons took on the Vikings who left off last
year as the only Coquitlam JB team to miss the playoffs.
The size of the Vikings was impressive and they looked very
good from an execution point of view. For many this was
overwhelming for the Falcon's and the offense struggled
to make a first down.
The next game was up against the Raiders who after years
of domination in JB found themselves squeaking into the
last playoff position in 2006. Like their association mates
the Vikings, the Raiders have several players returning
for their final year of Junior Bantam. This team ran like
a well oiled machine in execution but despite all that the
Falcons stepped up and played a much better game, especially
the defense and managed to hold the Raiders to only one
score.
Last game of the day was a much better match up with the
Falcons taking on a rebuilding Roughriders who last year
went all the way to the VMFL finals before losing to the
North Surrey Eagles. The Falcons offense came out strong
and managed to strike early while the defense held the Roughriders
to no score. The young team of the Falcons came out with
a lot more confidence and hope to build on that in weeks
to come.
