thoughts:
In summary I would like to say a few things about
the season as a whole. As a coach I personally had
a great time this year as this was the best staff
I have ever worked with and was very thankful to be
a part of. At no time did we have any arguments and
for the most part we all believed in the same concepts
and reasons of why we are there and do what we do.
Brian even put up with me!
For the kids I hope they learned a lot and I believe
they all had fun as disappointing as our playoff game
was. I believe they all tried their best and gave
it their all and most importantly they played as a
team and made some new friends along the way. I personally
want to thank Iain, Dayton, Ryan and Sam for stepping
up and leading the defense. We put a lot of pressure
on them and pushed them to achieve more and they succeeded.
A great job boys. I am sure that Coach Brian and others
would have their players as well to thank too.
Over the years I have seen some things that I feel
are important disappear from sports and maybe in some
way this is due to moving up in age groups. Sportsmanship,
class, teamwork and fun. There are only a few teams
at JB of the ones we played that I can say displayed
sportsmanship like the Falcons did and they would
be Langley, Coquitlam Vikings, Renfrew and Victoria
Warriors. Despite the score or result the coaches
and players played within the rules and realized what
their purpose of being there was. Our kids displayed
sportsmanship every game, never trash talking and
playing within the rules. The teamwork was there and
shown on many occasions. Players helping others up
and in one such case a player suggesting someone else
take his spot recognizing the other was perhaps better.
Together they create class! And lastly I really hope
they had fun because that is why they are here.
Setting of goals with the defense was a priority
for Raf and I and for the most part the team either
met or came close to meeting those goals. Some were
personal and some were a team goal. I hope that the
players take this concept and use it in their personal
life as well. Reach for the moon boys! Goals were
also set for coach's and one that Brian had was he
was determined to get 15 different players to score
offensive touchdowns. Well we came up short but managed
13 including lineman and defensive players. There
wouldn't be another team out there at any level that
can match that! Another goal was to kick a field goal
of which Greg and the ENTIRE CONVERT TEAM managed
where no other team in JB did. Another was to have
a defensive touchdown of which Iain scored one and
'BB' managed a punt return for the other.
Winding up I want to say thanks to all the parents
that helped out in any way to make our year as successful
as it was. There are a lot of things needed to be
done in order for the season to run and any help was
appreciated. Great job Allen for the sometimes thankless
job of trainer and to Stephanie for all the managerial
work and for those that don't know it's a LOT! To
all that worked the chain crew, concessions, play
counters and more (great Ali-McMuffins!) thanks very
much. Also to the cheerleaders for their continued
support rain or shine we really appreciated it and
good luck to the girls in their cheerleading competition.
Lastly to the players. Seniors: Please come back
and make a big effort to try out for the Tigers next
year. It won't be easy as there are only 36 spots
total but I think most of you will make it!. If you
find that there is no spot for you please stay in
football and play one year in another association
then come back. For the Juniors it's your year to
shine next year so come back bigger, taller and stronger!
For those who maybe have second thoughts on coming
back please just make sure you stay in some sport
whether it's football or something else.
Players, thanks for the memories.

Semi
Final Playoffs: Surrey Falcons 0 at Surrey Eagles
42
I am having a tough time writing this recap as a
part of me is very depressed that the outcome of our
2005 playoffs didn't turn out the way we had all hoped.
We knew going in it was going to be a dog fight and
both teams knew a lot of the other in game plan, strategy
and personalities. It truly was going to be a game
where the "best" team wins.
There isn't much to say in details of the game other
then we couldn't stop their run even though we knew
where they were going and the offense couldn't move
the ball with the exception of a couple nice runs
by Patrick and one by 'BB'. As coach's we tried everything
we could think of and as players they all played their
hearts out. In the end we were simply outsized and
out muscled The better team won that night but there
will be many more nights next year.
Great job kids and a great year overall. Remember
we finished 6th out of 19 teams and 11 of those teams
didn't play that Sunday! Tonight they all deserved
and received a MR BIG
bar or CRUNCH bar award.

Week 10:
Surrey Falcons
40 vs Cloverdale Cougars 18
In earlier action that day the Falcon's
learned that they were guaranteed a playoff spot with
Royal City I loosing in the morning. However a loss
would mean a possible trip to Coquitlam and so they
had to fire on all pistons to avoid it. For the fourth
game in a row it was raining and the field was sloppy
but after last week the offense knew how to get things
going. The action started fast with Dayton taking
the kick return up the field for twenty plus yards
and into Cougar territory. After a few short gains
'BB' took the ball off tackle and all the way for
45 yards and the game opening score. Greg added the
convert and the Falcon's were up fast 8-0.
Cloverdale came right back after the
kickoff and on their first play they broke one outside
for 60 yards and the matching major score. The convert
attempt for the Cougars was blocked by Patrick rushing
up the gut. At the start of the second quarter Cloverdale
took over the ball in Falcon territory. On second
down the went for the deep pass into the end zone
and managed to squeeze one by Cain for the touchdown
and the go ahead score. Again the convert attempt
failed but the Cougars were on top 12-8.
After a the Falcon's failed to mount
a drive on the next possession the Cougars tried to
move the ball at mid field when the ball popped loose
and Greg recovered. Soon after Patrick ran one off
tackle for a huge run and the score to put the home
team up 16-12 after the convert by Greg. After the
defense stuffed the Cougars again it was the 'BB'
show again as he ran the end around for another huge
run and the touchdown to put the Falcons up 24-12
after the convert. With time running down in the first
half the Cougars were not giving up as the marched
the ball down the field. Just inside the three minute
warning they managed a 50 yard run outside for the
touchdown and tightened the score up 24-18.
The third quarter was all Surrey defense
as the Falcon's came alive. After pushing the Cougar
offense backwards and some big penalties assessed
against Cloverdale they visitors were pushed up against
their goal line. Jack came in on a blitz package and
tackled the running back in the end zone for the safety.
The rain came down and things got ugly as both teams
started mishandling the ball. Greg recovered one fumble
as well as Derek went on the war path and managed
two fumble recoveries.
Into the fourth it was all Surrey as
the offense turned up the heat. After 'BB' picked
off an interception Patrick turned around and on a
broken play ran up the side and with the block of
the year by Jason C. he ripped up the field for 90
yards and the touchdown. The ensuing onside kick was
recovered by Greg but they couldn't put a drive together.
With Cloverdale trying to make a come back the ball
was stripped and Sammy dove on the ball for the fumble
recovery. The Falcons took over at mid field and after
a couple of short runs it was Jason C. running the
quarterback sneak all the way for 40 yards and final
score giving the Falcon's a 40-18 win and a home game
playoff fight with the Eagles.
The CRUNCH BAR
awards went to Iain for his onside kick recovery,
Sammy for some huge blocks, Patrick for a two touchdown
performance and Jason C for the block of the year.
MR BIG BAR awards went
out to 'BB' for his best offense performance of the
year. The defense award went to Derek for his finest
perfomance of the year with two fumble recoveries
and four tackles including three for a loss. The lineman
award went to Keith for a steller perfomance blocking
on the o-line.
Other notable performances include Greg
for two fumble recoveries and going four for five
on converts as well as Jason B. continues to dominate
the line with another team hign five tackles. Others
to be mentioned is the offensive line for opening
up some huge holes and giving some good protection.
The defense managed a game high six turnovers as well
as recording a safety and helped them finish the year
ranked sixth averaging 12.8 points allowed a game.
The offense finished the year also ranked six scoring
an 31.8 points a game.
Next game is
the battle for Surrey: Sunday 5:30pm vs the
Eagles.

Week 9:
Surrey Falcons
- 40 vs Victoria Warriors - 6
For the third week in a row the Falcon's had to
play in the rain and the field was again going to
be sloppy. Winless in their last two and playoff
hopes beginning to fade this was a do or die game
for the Falcon's if they hoped to see post season
action. The first play of the game started off the
wild action as Dayton ran the kick off back forty
yards before fumbling and turning the ball over.
The Victoria Warriors came out with a unique flavour
of offense that was quickly shut down three and
out as they met up with the rough and tough home
team defense.
The next drive the Falcon offense got on track
and regained some of the power house plays of earlier
in the season. Patrick and Greg were able to move
the ball aggressively behind a strong offensive
line. Down deep in Warrior territory Greg took the
ball up the gut for his first rushing touchdown
of the year. Adding the convert the Falcon's went
up 8-0. The next Victoria drive was again shut down
immediately by the Falcon defense giving Surrey
great field position. Under Jason C.'s leadership
they moved the ball down to the one when they gave
Reggie a chance to be the 14th person in the end
zone this year but he came up short turning over
the ball. On the next play when Victoria's offense
took the field Patrick blitzed up the middle stuffing
the running back for a loss and another safety on
the year for the defense.
Late in the second quarter the Warriors got a break
and caught the defense on an all out blitz package
allowing their running back to find a seem and go
eighty yards for what would be their only score
on the day. With the blocked convert by Patrick
the score was 10-6 for the Falcon's. However the
wild plays continued as Patrick received the ensuing
kickoff and found the hole and returned the play
all the way back for the touchdown and to end the
half at 16-6.
The hits came out in the second half when Patrick
blitzed on defense hitting the Warrior ball carrier
hard popping the ball loose where Dayton was quick
to pick it up. From there Patrick ran off tackle
for a big 80 yard touchdown and his second on the
day. Early in the fourth Patrick added another to
make the score 32-6 but the high powered Falcon's
didn't stop their. Victoria punted when the defense
stuffed them in Warrior territory and 'BB' took
the return outside and ran it in for the final score
of the day. After Greg's successful convert of which
he was four out of five on the day, the final score
became 40-6.
The CRUNCH bar awards
on the day went of course to Patrick for some huge
bone crunching blocks and William for another fine
block that helped result in a Surrey touchdown.
The third went to Dayton for his fumble recovery
and the last went to Jack for three tackles on the
day, all for loss of yards. The MR.
BIG Bar awards went out to Jessie for his
lineman work, both offense and defense, to Patrick
for a huge production day and to Jason B. for a
great defensive effort on the day including three
tackles.
Other notables on the day we should mention Greg
for his second shot at tailback and he really came
up big on some plays as he learns the position.
Jason C managed well on the day considering the
conditions with only one bad snap and no running
back exchange problems. The defense was challenged
to 15 defensive plays (loss of yards, fumble or
interception) and they came close with 13 but that
included a safety and punt return for eight points
total and an excellent day's performance. It was
great to see the offense be able to move the ball
on some big drives with the help of good blocking
both on the line and outside and this was a big
factor in the result today. As a last note I want
to thank the Victoria players and staff for a good
clean day of football and a showing of what a class
team they are.

Week 8:
Surrey Falcons
- 6 vs Coquitlam Roughriders - 6
It was another wet game day situation on Wednesday
night when the visiting Coquitlam Roughriders came
into Bear Creek park. With a playoff spot on the line
the Falcons knew that this was a very important game
to be played. The field conditions were very wet and
soft and it was evident from the first ball handling
by both teams that it was going to be a tough night
to move the ball.
The first quarter ended tied with no score as both
teams went three and out on almost every try. Part
way throught the second quarter the Falcon's finally
though they got a break when Patrick Z. scrambled
through the line for a long 60 plus yard touch down
but it was called back for a flag thrown behind the
play. The second quarter remained knotted until late
when Patrick swept around the outside and went 50
yards for the touchdown but again the points were
taken off the board for a flag thrown in the backfield.
The score at the half remained tied at zero.
The third quarter was played in the same fashion
as the frst with neither team advancing the ball.
Jivon C. recovered a fumble for the Falcons but the
offense couldn't take advantage of the situation.
Early in the fourth the Falcon's defense came up big
stuffing the Roughriders deep in Falcon territory.
This time the offense led by Ross S at quarterback
mounted a huge drive going 90 yards and with the help
of Patrick swept the ball in for the first score of
the night. The convert attempt by Greg F. was unsuccessfull
leaving the score 6-0 for the Falcons.
Late in the fourth the Roughriders took over the
ball inside Falcon territory and marched the ball
down the field. Finally getting by the defense on
a run up the middle Coquitlam scored to tie the game
but the convert attempt was missed leaving the score
tied again at 6-6. With minutes left both teams tried
to add a score but failed. Coquitlam took the ball
at mid field with less then a minute left. After a
one run attempt they went for the pass where "BB"
intercepted the ball and gave the home team one more
stab at the end zone. A last ditch run attempt by
"BB" failed and the game ended tied at 6-6
leaving the Falcons with still a hope of making the
playoffs.
Again there were no CRUNCH or MR BIG bar awards but
there were some performances and things to be said.
Jason B. lead the team in tackles with 8 and his season
high. The defense got three turnovers with fumble
recoveries by Patrick and Jivon as well as an interception
by "BB". Despite not feeling well Patrick
tried his best to keep moving and Ross S. filled in
nicely at quarterback. Derick made some nice bone
crunching tackles and showed the team how to do it.
Greg showed great vision and moves at tailback, a
first for him and Iain S. got a chance to play some
slotback and contributed a lot to the one and only
scoring drive.
Next game: A must win at home. Falcons (5-2-1) against
Victoria Warriors (2-5)

Week 7:
Surrey Falcons
- 0 at Richmond Raiders - 36
This was the last road game of the regular season
for the Surrey Falcons and lets just say it was U..G...L...Y
UGLY!!
The weather was pouring with rain and
there was a small cool wind to add to the day. We
kicked off to the Raiders to open the game and they
proceeded to pound the ball up the middle until after
about 15 plays the managed to put the ball in for
the score. With the successful convert the Raiders
opened up a 8-0 lead. The Falcons took the kickoff
but were stuffed quickly and went three and out. Both
teams struggled on their next attempts with Patrick
recovering a fumble to give the ball back to the Falcons.
Again the Surrey boys were not able to find the holes
and move the ball. With several fumbles and miss handled
balls the Falcons kept giving the Raiders good field
position and subsequently the Richmond team scored
two more in the first quarter. With the score 22-0
for the home team the Surrey defense started to dig
in and stop the Raiders. Despite the hard work of
the offensive line the Falcons just couldn't move
the ball. After getting pushed back near their own
goal line they lost possesion on the one and turned
it over to the Raiders where they made another quick
score to finish off the half leading 30-0
The third quarter saw some bright spots. The defense
continued to push back the Raider offense for a good
part of the game. Strong blitz packages by Jevon,
Greg and others helped keep Richmond from adding any
points. After the Raiders got good field position
but couldn't move the sticks they attempted a field
goal that ended up wide. On the ensuing drive the
Falcons got their first first down of the game on
a run by Patrick. Later in the fourth then caught
a break and got another first down. However that was
the entire offensive highlight for the day.
In the fourth quarter William recovered another fumble
and once again the Falcons kept the Raiders from moving
the ball. With seconds left in the game and the clock
under mercy rules the Falcons fumbled the ball deep
in their end and the Richmond defense ran it in for
the touchdown ending the game 36-0
In all the uglyness of the day there were a few bright
spots. Both Patrick and Sammy dominated on defense
with Sammy having a season high seven tackles, many
for a hugh loss. The defense learned on the spot some
new formations and plays which worked well. For some
of the new players they learned what it was like to
play in "real" football weather and get
down in the mud. For the offense they got a taste
of what it's like to grind it out up the middle against
a very tough Richmond line and linebacker core.

Week 6:
Surrey Falcons
- 57 at Renfrew Trojans - 0
The North Surrey Falcons took their hot streak into
the heart of Vancouver to take on the Renfrew Trojans
who were coming into the game with a 3-2 record. The
Falcons kicked off a short kickoff but the home team
recovered and the Trojan offense went to work.
With the largest offensive line in the league their
running back tried to sweep around the outside and
run some plays off tackle. After some success
and getting a first down the defense stuffed them
and the Falcons offense went to work. Jason
C. came out quick with a perfect pass to Ross "Big
Game" for a huge 50 plus yard reception and the
quick score opening up the scoreboard 8-0 after the
convert by Greg F.
After a tough injury on the field to the Renfrew
Trojans and a long break the Falcons went to work
again. With the ball at the Renfrew 13 and second
down they tried the pass outside but Renfrew's quick
defense shut down the pass. Greg F. went in to attempt
a field goal and this time the team put one 20 yards
through the uprights for the first field goal of the
year in all of JB.
The second quarter was all Surrey as the Trojan defense
began to tire out. With some outstanding pressure
from the defensive line they forced a fumble and Jivon
C. recovered it to give the offense good field position.
Marching down the field the Trojan defense was digging
in not letting any big plays go. With just a couple
of yards to the goal line, Jason C. took the QB sneak
in standing up for the next Surrey major making the
score 19-0 after the convert.
With Coach Jason getting his debut in calling the
defense today the Falcons ran blitz after blitz. With
Jason B. chasing the QB down, Jivon came up to make
a huge 20 yard sack and again turn the ball over for
the offense. With the offensive line taking
on the best defense line to date they had their hands
full but still managed to make the room for Jason
C. to move this offense down the field. Patrick
"SmurfKing" Z. took the sweep play and ran
for a 7 yard strike making the score 27-0 with the
convert.
Not letting up the Falcons defense was relentless
in their pursuit of the backfield. Greg F. blitzed
and put the heat on the Trojan QB who threw a high
pass that bounced off Jason C. into Iain S.'s hands
for the first interception of the day. From
their the offense mixed things up again moving players
around and they found Jivon C.in at slot back where
he took the reverse around for a 10 yard touchdown
and his first of the year. After the convert
that ended the half at 35-0
The Falcon's received the ball for the second half
and the first play was to Patrick Z. who ran 60 yards
on the reverse for a quick touchdown and a score of
43-0 after another successful convert. With
the clock on running time the defense kept up the
heat and allowed great field position for the offense
to work with. With the ball down around the
Trojan goal line the Falcons through Jack M. into
the playbook and from slot back he ran it in for his
first of the year making the score 49-0. Unfortunately
the convert was blocked stopping another long streak
by the convert team.
With the game winding down Ryan D. came up with the
defensive play of the day where the crowd watched
him hunt down the Trojan QB in the backfield, tackle
him and then get the fumble recovery himself.
This set up the last score of the day where Derek
"I can be a two back" C. came in and ran
the dive play for seven yards and his first touchdown
of the year. The final score was 57-0 after
the convert.
Overall the offense ran on all cylinders today with
seven major scores from six players including three
new ones. The first field goal in JB was scored
today by a great field goal team and the defense again
dominated the field with two fumble recoveries and
an interception and their third shut out in a row.
This was not as easy a task as it seems as the Renfrew
Trojans have the biggest team in the league and a
defensive line that was excellent. With #33
in the backfield who is arguably the best middle linebacker
he racked up the tackles all day long. This
is a team that has come a long way since the Renfrew
association returned to community football.
For the CRUNCH bar
awards this weekend we had lots of players to choose
from. In the first quarter the CRUNCH
bar went to Sammy "Big Hit M. for his crushing
block on the Trojan player. Next was the "Mighty"
M-Dog who despite his size leveled the player for
another terrific block. In the third it went
to Jack M for his picture perfect touchdown and the
last CRUNCH bar goes
to Ryan "Gothboy" D. for the defensive play
of the game with his sack and fumble recovery.
The MR BIG bar awards
went out to Jason C for great leadership and quarterback
work who continues to improve every week. For
defense it went to Jivon C. who was a force all day
long terrorizing the Trojan backfield. For the
lineman it went to Sammy M. who has really turned
things around from the beginning of the season and
is showing 100% heart every play.

Week 5:
Surrey Falcons
- 32 at Royal City Hyacks II - 0
It was a perfect crisp fall night for our special
edition of "Friday Night Lights" as the
fans got their first look at one of the Royal City
teams. The visiting Falcon's kicked off the
game and the red hot defense came out and continued
their domination from last week and shut down the
Hyack offense fast. Taking over the ball at
midfield it didn't take long to get things going as
Patrick Z. ran the ball off tackle and outside for
a huge 40 yard run and the score. The convert
team was perfect as usual and added the two points
to help the Falcon's take a quick 8-0 lead.
The Royal City team put a very quick and effective
defense on the field and managed to slow up Surrey's
offense. Both teams started to struggle to move
the ball and with the help of a fumble recovery by
Iain S. the Falcon's were in some good field position
again. Failing to capitalize the Falcon's had to wait
until late in the second quarter when the defense
pinned the Hyacks deep in their own territory.
The Surrey offense took over and with the help of
big Ryan D. took the ball up the gut for the touchdown.
With the convert the half ended with Surrey leading
16-0 over the home team.
The second half opened with Surrey receiving however
the offense despite being able to move the ball they
ran out of steam and just couldn't get into the Hyack
red zone. Despite the smaller size the home
team defense was quick and they were able to shut
down most of the outside plays but the Surrey defense
was even stronger allowing the Hyacks only a couple
of first downs.
With the third quarter going scoreless it was time
to turn up the head and the defense went to work.
Jack M. recovered a fumble and got the offense on
the field. Patrick Z. wasted no time in taking
the reverse for 55 yards and the touchdown and the
successful convert made the score 24-0. The
Hyack's continued to struggle of offense as the pressure
up front was big. With the heat on the quarterback
the defense picked off an interception by Greg F,
his first of the year and he took it all the way for
the score. However a flag on the field nullified
it.
Again the Hyack defense shut down Surrey and they
were forced into their second attempted field goal
of the night. Like the first one this too didn't
make it through the uprights and the ball turned over.
Late in the fourth the defense went to work again
and this time it was William D. for the pick.
The offense used Ryan D. and Sammy M. to bull rush
the ball up the middle and moved the chains down the
field. With time running out they went to the
quick speed of Patrick Z. and the sweep to capitalize
on the turnover and take the ball in for the six points.
Greg F's convert was successful and the game ended
soon after with the final score 32-0.
Credit has to go to a great Hyack team who have a
lightning quick defense that kept the Surrey Falcon's
in check for a good part of the game. This will
surely be a very competitive team by year's end.
The CRUNCH bar awards
went to Jason C for a nice block on Patrick's first
touchdown, Ryan D. for bumblin', stumblin, in for
his second touchdown of the year, B.B for being the
tough player he is and playing through the game with
a broken finger. The last one went to Greg F. for
his first interception of the year and an almost score
for the defense. An honorable mention for CRUNCH
bar awards must go to little Willy who proved he's
not so little in picking off that last interception
of the night.
The MR BIG bar awards
went to Patrick Z. for just another huge night of
touchdowns, Iain S. for five tackles on the night
including four for the opponents loss and a fumble
recovery and for lineman of the night the
MR BIG bar award goes to a fast improving o-lineman
of Harvir S. This was the second shutout in
a row for the defense and a season high four turnover
recoveries. On offense, despite struggling at
times they were able to run outside thanks to some
great blocks by the wide outs including Zach H.
Great work all round.
Next up: Falcons (4-1) at Renfrew Trojans (3-2)

Week 4:
Surrey Falcons
- 45 vs North Delta Panthers - 0
The North Surrey Falcons were coming
off a tough loss against Coquitlam and with a lot
of players sick and hurt and despite the visiting
North Delta Panthers coming in winless, they were
going to need everyone to step up and fill in. The
Falcon's took the opening kickoff and Jivon C. ran
a good 30 yards back. However both teams started out
shaky with fumbles on their first possessions.
On the next Falcon drive Patrick Z.
took the reverse and ran 70 yards around the left
to get the home team on the board with a 6-0 lead.
The snap on the convert attempt was high and their
streak of 12 straight ended. The Falcon defense was
given a challenge to be very aggressive well at the
same time defend out of some different formations.
The result was shutting down the Panther offense with
several plays for loss of yards and forced punts.
Just before the end of the first quarter with the
Falcon's deep into Panther territory the offense brought
out the heavy weights with Sammy M. in at full back.
On the next play Sammy plowed up the gut for a five
yard touchdown play and with the successful convert
put the Falcon's out to a 14-0 lead.
With the defense still holding strong
the offense marched the ball again. This time Jason
C. was a little off target to the attended receiver
Ross S. and was skillfully picked off by the Panther
linebacker. With time marching in the second quarter
the Falcon's got another chance and this time it was
Patrick Z. again with a long 75 yard run for the score.
The Falcon's went up 22-0 after the convert.
Just before the half Surrey had one
more try. With the ball at midfield and the passing
game off target, Jason C. got a break and hooked up
a beautiful pass to Zac H. who after making the finger
tip catch ran in for his first ever touchdown. The
half ended 30-0 after Greg F. successfully made the
convert.
At the start of the second half the
Panther's took possession and were able to make a
few first downs before yet again having to punt. On
the next Falcon series Zac H. took the hitch pass
and scrambled for 30 yards up the side before getting
tackled out of bounds. With the Panther defense tightening
up they stuffed the Falcons down around their twenty
forcing the home team to attempt the field goal. Greg's
second attempt and longest this year ended with the
ball hitting the cross bar and being blown dead.
Things continued to be deadlocked in
the third quarter as the visiting Panther's managed
to get a few first downs. With the fourth quarter
starting the Falcon's took the ball and marched down
the field. Patrick Z. got his third on the day with
a 23 yard run to move the score to 38-0 after the
convert. Nearing the final minutes of the game Patrick
got his season high fourth on the day with a huge
75 yard run outside to take the game to 44-0 over
North Delta. The convert played out a fake and with
the direct snap to Jason C. he tossed the ball to
a wide open B.B. for the single to make the final
score 45-0.
A game well played by the injured and
sick Falcon team today and with many patch work setups
on defense still managed to get a shutout. The high
flying offense proved once again the bountiful number
of weapons that they possess and worked themselves
back to being a respectable 5th ranked offense. The
defense as well moved back up to a 5th ranked spot
with their first shut out of the year.
The CRUNCH
bar awards on the day went to William D. in the first
quarter for a great third down tackle preventing the
Panthers from gaining a first down. In the second
it was Zack K. also with another key tackle. In the
third quarter the CRUNCH
bar went to JAck M. for his amazing defensive plays
at his new spot of safety. The fourth quarter went
to Greg F. for a HUGE kickoff that went deep into
Panther territory. The MR BIG
award for offense went to Zac H. for some incredible
catch's today and his first touchdown pass of the
year. For defense the award goes to B.B. for great
work at safety and some big play making tackles. The
line MR BIG bar went
out to Sammy M. for working both offense and defense
today as well as his freight train run for the touchdown.

Week 3:
Surrey Falcons
1 at Coquitlam Raiders 32
This was what was billed as the game
of the week as we had a match up of two undefeated
teams go head to head on Sunday. The number one offense
of the Falcons was up against the number two defense
of the Vikings so it was sure to be a display of fireworks.
The game started with the Falcons receiving
the ball and making a big time consuming drive down
deep into Raider territory. With first and goal from
the 9 yard line the Surrey boys tried twice to punch
it in. On an attempted field go by Greg F. the kick
went under the cross bar and the Falcons received
the single for tackling the returning ball carrier
in the end zone.
The next two Coquitlam drives were stopped
by the rugged defense of the Falcon's. On one drive
the Raiders attempted a fake punt but failed to achieve
sufficient yardage. Half way through the second quarter
with the score still 1-0 for the visitors the Falcons
were driving. Patrick Z. fumbled the ball on third
down and Jesse V. picked up the ball and advanced
it for the first but was ruled down before the yardage
was attained.
Again Coquitlam took over but was stuffed
by the Falcon defense. The next drive by Surrey took
them again deep into Raider territory when down on
the ten yard line they were stopped. Attempting another
field goal the Falcon's pulled a fake and went for
the pass. The alert Coquitlam backfield picked off
Jason's pass and went 100 yards for the touchdown.
With the successful convert the home team went up
8-1
Just before the half the startled Falcon's
were caught again when Coquitlam's talented back ran
up the gut inside the tackle and broke one for 65
yards and that ended the half at 16-1. Despite controlling
the game the Falcon's just couldn't capitalize but
there was still a whole half left.
Things didn't change much in the second
half. Surrey kicked off and Greg F. recovered a bobbled
ball by the Coquitlam return team and the Falcon's
went to work again. Again the offense just couldn't
convert enough third downs and time and again got
stuffed in Coquitlam territory. On the other side
the Falcon's defense kept the Raiders from gaining
much ground and getting past the mid stripe. Late
in the third B.B picked off a pass from the Raider
Quarter Back and ran back twenty yards to the Coquitlam
forty yard line. Again the offense was shut down and
turned the ball over deep into Raider territory down
near the goal line.
On the change of possession the Raiders
running back went 95 yards off tackle and moved the
scoreboard to 24-1 for the Raiders after the successful
convert. Late in the fourth they added another long
run for the touchdown, this time for 30 yards to make
the final 32-1
Overall the Falcon's played an excellent
game showing just how much they improved. It was only
four weeks ago they lost 16-0 in a twenty minute exhibition
game and today lead 1-0 after the same amount of time.
On paper statistically the beat the home team, controlling
much of the game and moving the ball well on offense.
Unfortunately they lost to the other team that was
on the field today and despite how hard the kids played
they couldn't overcome them. The Falcon's gave the
Raiders their game of the year and certainly gave
them something to think about come playoff time.
The CRUNCH
bar awards go to Jesse V. for a great tackle in the
first quarter, Ross W. for receiving not one but two
very good kick off's, Devon T. for a fabulous run
back and effort today (please get better fast as we
will really miss you) and the last one went to B.B.
for the nice interception on the day. The MR.
BIG bar awards went to Patrick Z. on offense
for another huge day in the back field, Dereck C.
for continuing to lead the team in tackles. For the
lineman it went to first time football player Eric
D. who only four weeks ago against the same team had
an opportunity to pick up a fumbled ball but didn't
capitalize as he was unsure of what to do, but today
knew better and picked up his first turnover on a
fumble recovery.
Next up: North Surrey Falcons (2-1)
vs North Delta Panthers (0-3)

Week 2:
Coquitlam Vikings
22 at Surrey Falcons 58
It was the home opener
for the Falcons and a perfect day of weather for this
great match up. We knew going in that the Vikings
would be tough wanting to make up for some earlier
pre-season losses. Knowing this and knowing
the talent that they had we had a feeling it was going
to be a long tough day.
Coquitlam was first on the score board with an outstanding
39 yard toss and no defense around to stop it.
The attempted convert was missed due to a penalty
pushing back the spot of the ball and so the Vikings
were out fast. The next series the Falcons were
under some pressure to get moving the ball.
Jason C. connected with B.B. for a 40 yard completion
and jump started the offense. Down near the
red zone of the Vikings, Devon T. took the ball on
the sweep to the left and went in for his first JB
touchdown. With Greg R. coming off a perfect
game last week he stayed on a roll and kicked through
the convert to take the Falcons to a 8-6 lead. |
|
|
Things remained tight and the action was
tough during the first quarter. Iain S. managed
to recover a fumble and the Falcons took over to start
the second quarter. Surrey came out hot and on
the tailback option, Patrick Z. tossed a beautiful 45
yard pass play to Ross "Big Game" S. for the
touchdown and with the convert they pulled out to a
16-6 lead. |
|
Keeping the momentum going the Falcons continued
on their next drive with another touchdown pass, this
time it was Jason C. throwing the long bomb to Ross
S. to spot 6 more points on the board. With
the convert the Falcons now lead 24-6.
Fighting back the Vikings had to prove they were
not out of this game yet. Lamar and his team
mate in the back field moved the ball consistently
against the Surrey defense. Finally Lamar broke
one inside the tackle and went 62 yards for the touch
down. After the successful convert the Vikings
pulled back to a 24-14 game.
Things continued to go crazy in the first half as
the defenses tried to figure out the hot offenses
on the day. With help from a CRUNCH
block from "M-Dog", Jason took the QB end
around all the way for the touchdown. Greg F.
continuing his perfect day of converts took the game
to a 32-14 score. Again Coquitlam had to prove
that they were just a good and marched back with another
nice touchdown pass of their own burning the Falcon
defense and ending the half with a 32-22 score.
The second half the Falcons made some adjustments
on defense and it turned out to be an all Surrey half.
Marching the ball down the field the Surrey boys ran
out of steam on the one yard line and Coquitlam took
over. Having to make up for some lost ground
the defense showed the offense they can score too
as Iain S with some help from Sammy M. tackled the
Viking ball carrier in the end zone for the safety.
The fourth quarter things went wild again as Patrick
Z. ran inside the left tackle for a 50 yard touchdown
to move the score to 42-22. Soon after Jason
C. launches another touchdown strike this time to
B.B. and with the convert the Falcons were up 50-22.
After a fumble recovery by B.B. on the ensuing kickoff
Patrick ran his second of the day in to finish off
the day and make the score 58-22 after the convert.
|
|
CRUNCH Bar awards went
to Patrick for the big hits, "M-Dog" for
a great block, Iain for the safety and Jesse for a
major CRUNCH off the
line. MR BIG awards
go to Ross S. for a perfect two for two and two touchdown
day on offense, Damian T. for the lineman award and
opening up some big time holes and for defense the
MR BIG went to Devon
T for some great saving tackles.
Honerable mentions go to Greg F. for taking his convert
streak to 12, Dayton C for a huge kickoff in the fourth
quarter and Derek C. for a game high five tackles
on the day. Although the defense didn't achieve
their pre-game goal they were challanged to no points
against in the second and did it. The offense
put up a season high 56 points and looked almost flawless
today scoring with all sorts of weapons.
Next up: North Surrey Falcons (2-0) at Coquitlam
Raiders (2-0)

| Week
1: Surrey
Falcons 40 at Langley Outlaws 8 |
|
 |
The Surrey Falcons opened their season on the road
this year with a trip to Langley to meet with the
Outlaws. The visitors kicked off to Langley
and the defense went in with one main goal in mind
- no first downs today. The first Outlaw drive
was stuffed and they went three and out.
The Surrey offense came out fast with a full back
option and Patrick Z. tossing Ross S. for a 20 yard
gain and Ross's first catch of the year. |
|
Soon after Jason C. threw a 25 yard bomb to Greg
F for the touchdown and his first catch in football.
Greg turned around and kicked the convert to put the
Falcons up 8-0. The rest of the half was back and
forth with tough defense shown by both sides.
Near the end of the second Surrey was mounting another
drive and on the last play of the game the offense
threw an interception where Langley picked off the
pass at their own 1 and the half ended.
The team was challanged and told not to let up and
they answered big time. The Falcons took the
opening kickoff and drove all the way down the field.
Patrick Z. ran outside for 20 yards and a QB sneak
by Jason helped keep the drive going.
B.B. made a nice off tackle run for another 20 yards
to put the ball down to the two yard line. Ryan
D. was brought in for some short yardage and finished
off the drive with a two yard touchdown and his first
of the year. With Greg's convert the Falcon's
went up 16-0.
Into the fourth quarter the Falcon's turned it up.
With the defense still not allowing any first downs
(except one penalty) the defensive line put pressure
including two sacks for losses before Iain S. made
the play of they day. On third and long it looked
like Langley went to try the quick kick when Iain
ran through, picked off the ball and went a good 25
yards for the first defensive touchdown of the year.
With the convert the score went to 24-0.
Not be stopped the defense continued with Jivon C.
recovering a fumble and Patrick Z. taking the offense
up the field and scoring on a 25 yard run outside
and making it 32-0. With three minutes left
Langley got a break and found some real estate on
the outside and took a run for 55 yards and the score
to bring the game to 32-8. With Surrey recovering
the onside kick attempt Patrick Z. added one more
TD on the day with a 55 yard run up the gut to make
the final score 40-8.
The CRUNCH Bar awards
went to Derek C. for a great block, Ryan D. for two
sacks and a TD, Jack M. for outstanding hits and Jivon
C. for a fumble great hits. The Mr
Big Bar awards went to Ryan D. for The lineman
of the day, as well as Patrick Z. for some great defense
play. The other Mr Big Bar
went to Jason C. for the offense work he did on the
day. Also to note was a great outing by the
offensive line including Harvir S. and Erick F. who
played the most of the game with a strong performance.

Pre-Season Wk4: Surrey
Bronze Boot

The last pre-season action of the season was at Bear
Creek Park for the 36th Annual Bronze Boot tournament
The teams featured this year in the JB division were
the Coquitlam Vikings, the Cloverdale Cougars as well
as our own Eagles.
The first opponent of the day for the Falcons were
the Cloverdale Cougars. The visitors received
the ball on the kickoff and proceeded to mount a small
drive when suddenly they broke one off tackle and
went over 50 yards for the touchdown. The convert
attempt was blocked by Patrick Z. and the Cougars
took a 6-0 lead.
The Falcons tried a couple of times to get a drive
going with action that included Jason C. completing
a 10 yard pass to Patrick Z. and Jesse V. recovering
a fumble to keep the drive alive. However each
attempt was failed and the home team boys couldn't
put up any points so the game ended with Cloverdale
winning 6-0
|
|
|
The next game of the day was against the Coquitlam
Vikings who have dominated the JB division in years
past. The Falcon's received the opening kickoff
and the ball was taken at midfield by Patrick Z. who
took it all the way in for the touchdown. Greg
F. got some action at kicking and put the ball through
for the convert and his first of his career. |
|
Special teams continued to dominate as the ensuing
kickoff by Dayton C. was dumped short and recovered
by Jivon C. With some great blocking from the
O-Line, Patrick danced his way through for another
big 30+ yard run and with Greg's convert made the
score 16-0.
Again Dayton C. kicked a nice short kickoff to the sideline
and this time Patrick Z. made the hit and fumble recovery.
The Falcon's mounted another good drive including a
pass connection of Jason C. to Zach H. for 8 yards and
a first down. Congrats to Zach for his first catch
ever! Down near the goalline Patrick took the
handoff and added the final points of the day for a
22-0 Falcon win.
The last game of the day for JB was the traditional
matchup of Eagles versus Falcons and there was bragging
rights on the line. The Falcons came out strong
driving hard when Patrick Z. escaped and ran for 65yds
and the touchdown. After the successfull convert
by Greg they lead 8-0.
With the defense of the Falcons holding
strong time was running out for the Eagles.
If the score remained the same the Falcons would win
the Bronze Boot but they couldn't allow any points
to be scored against them. With the ball at
midfield and under three minutes the quick dump pass
allowed the Eagles to score and tie the game with
the convert on the last play of the game. Final score
was 8-8 and Eagles won the Bronze Boot.
Overall the team did very well despite
missing some key players on the day. With the
exception of a couple mistakes the defense was solid,
the special teams were outstanding and the offense
showed they could move the ball against a top team
like the Eagles. Despite the fact we don't have
a lot of size it showed that they boys have a lot
of heart, desire and toughness. Now it's the
real deal.

Pre-Season Wk2: Coquitlam
It was a hot Saturday afternoon when the Falcons
took the field for their first test of real action
this season. Game one was against the
Coquitlam Raiders who we knew would be a strong team
this year. Being the home team they took possession
of the ball first and opened with a 75 yard run up
the middle to take a quick lead 6-0. Patrick
Z. put enough pressure up the middle on the convert
attempt that Coquitlam missed the 2 point conversion.
|
|
The offense started off slow this
game as they found it tough to find that groove.
At the same time the defense, despite getting into
Coquitlam's backfield was not able to wrap up |
|
|
the ball carrier. The Raiders scored another
off tackle run and topped it with a convert to take
the lead 13-0. The second half of the scrimmage things
started to even out a little bit with the offense
moving the ball up the middle and the defense starting
to stuff the Coquitlam running game. Time ran
out and the 2005 Falcons debut ended with a 13-0 loss.
Next up the Falcons took on last years defending
champs the Vikings. With most of that roster
moving up it was a different team and new things to
watch for. The defense took the field and shut
down Coquitlams offense with a three and out.
Ross S. came out as quarterback and lead the offense
to their first score of the day with a nice hand off
Patrick Z. who ran up the gut for the touchdown.
The convert was unsuccessful and the Falcons were
on the board 6-0.
Big plays by the defense continued to hold the Vikings
back and turned the ball over to the offense again.
This time "BB" took one off tackle and in
for another Falcon six. Final score ended up
12-0 and the day was looking up.
Last game of the day the Surrey boys went up against
the new Roughriders team. Despite being new
this team put up a fight to start holding the opening
drive of the Falcons to little gain. Sammy M.
and Ryan D. helped keep the Roughriders offense from
gaining any ground up the middle and the Falcons got
another opportunity to move the ball. Patrick
Z. took the handoff and went inside the left guard
for a nice run to put the only points of the game
on the board and the Falcons took this one 6-0
At the end of the day we saw some great performances
by many of the players and our first looks by the
rookies. Other notible performances were seen
by Jack M. and Iain S.. In the end the Falcons
came out 2-1 and second place over all so it was a
good day all round. Next up the Bronze
Boot.
